Eles chegaram à estação Atlit em um trem de Teerã, Irã, de todos os lugares. Um total de 719 crianças judias, todas órfãs ou separadas de pais vivos, desembarcaram em Israel na véspera do festival judaico de Purim, que celebra o triunfo do povo judeu sobre um arqui-vilão persa que não procurava nada menos que milhares de genocídios de anos antes.

The Tehran Children Arrive in IsraelWATCH: During the early stages of World War II, a group of nearly a thousand Jewish children managed to escape occupied Poland, eventually making their way to an unlikely destination: Iran.On February 18th 1943, years after they had first fled from the Nazi threat, a train arrived at the Atlit train station in Mandatory Palestine from Tehran. Onboard were 719 Jewish children, many of them by now orphans, though some had simply been separated from parents who were still alive.
